This report reflects on lessons learned, issues and best practices based on the UNFPA Global Forum on Faith-based Organizations for Population and Development (Istanbul 2008). The discussions, recommendations for action and voices of critical faith-based actors, are also documented.
The Global Forum was the culmination of three decades of experience in engaging faith-based organizations in the areas of reproductive health and rights, gender equality and population and development issues. The global forum also built on lessons from five regional forums that took place in late 2007 and throughout 2008. It gathered more that 150 faith-based representatives around the globe to celebrate the faith-based partnerships, launch the Inter-faith Network on population and development, and assert joint commitments to further collaboration.
