The Egypt Demographic and Health Survey is the latest in a series of nationally representative population and health surveys conducted in Egypt.1 The survey was conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP) and implemented by El-Zanaty & Associates. Technical support for the survey was provided by ICF International through The DHS Program. The DHS Program is sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to assist countries worldwide in conducting surveys to obtain information on key population and health indicators. USAID/Cairo provided the main funding to support the implementation of the survey. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA) also contributed to the funding of the survey.
