UNFPA participated in the EU Delegation to Egypt’s Campus Tour in Egypt in February 2020, organized and the EU Neighbors South project under the title #EU4YOUth. The tour ran under the theme Education and Youth Empowerment, as major focus areas for EU investment in Egypt.

The Campus Tour made stops in Alexandria University on February 20 and Cairo University on February 24, where the EU showcased the different youth-related projects including the EU Support to Egypt’s National Population Strategy.

The objective of the tour was to meet students on campus, to offer them a tailored overview on EU’s action in Egypt through a presentation of EU projects and beneficiary testimonies. The event also included a part of artistic performance in collaboration with the students, an exhibition and a photo contest to promote the event on social media.

Maha Wanis, UNFPA Reproductive Health Program Specialist, and Mohamed ElFawy, UNFPA’s Y-PEER Field Coordinator, participated in the tour and showcased the National Population Strategy’s investment in educating young people and people in reproductive age and raising their awareness on family planning and the value of smaller family size.


Y-Peer volunteers showcased the project's youth different activtiies 

Wanis gave a presentation showcasing the project’s results thus far, and participated in a discussion around the promotion of FP services, and importance of FP and RH issues to youth and their wellbeing.

Mohamed ElFawy along with other Y-PEER volunteers operated a booth on the sidelines of the event answering student’s questions on the project as well as distributing brochures detailing the project’s youth activities. 

Elfawy oriented young people on Y-Peer activities, youth camps and sports for development activities and the policy dialogues between young people and relevant government officials.
