UNFPA and the Embassy of Italy in Egypt signed the new program: Protection, Services and Empowerment: Invest in a Zero Tolerance Environment against all forms of Gender-Based Violence against Women and Girls in Egypt starting from 2023 until 2025 on October 5.

This program builds on important key results achieved through UNFPA's partnership with the National Council for Women, with the support of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation in Egypt.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashaat, Minister of Labour Hassan Shehata, President of the National Council for Women, Dr. Maya Morsi, UNFPA Representative in Egypt, Frederika Meijer, Ambassador of Italy to Egypt, Michele Quaroni, UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt Elena Panova among other UN representatives in Egypt.

The program will contribute to creating a “Zero-Tolerance” approach to violence against women at the individual, community, service delivery and decision-making levels as well as contribute to expanding socio-economic opportunities and entrepreneurial inclusion for women and their access to knowledge and decision-making.
