UNFPA and the Ministry of Social Solidarity organized street theatre performances in 10 governorates, tackling family planning and promoting small-sized families during the month of November.

Under the “Two is Enough” project, the performances targeted the governorates with the highest fertility rates which included Beheira, Giza, Fayoum, Beni Suef, Minya, Qena, Sohag, Assiut, Luxor and Aswan, with two performances in each governorate.

The performances also targeted the villages under the “Decent Life” presidential initiative, which aims at improving the quality of life in rural communities within the framework of the Sustainable Development Strategy.

The scripts sheds light on the benefits of smaller families, and rectifies misconceptions around family planning in a comedic way, to raise awareness and ultimately increase the demand for family planning services.

UNFPA employs edutainment tools, which include music and interactive theater, to raise awareness on population issues such as gender-based violence, family planning, and harmful practices against girls.
