The EU Support to Egypt’s National Population Strategy has resumed its training activities with the Ministry of Health and Population, in cooperation with UNFPA, while taking all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health and Population’s Family Planning Sector, in cooperation with UNFPA, and with the support of the European Union, conducted nine workshops in nine governorates during the month of August, including Gharbeya, Minya, Qalyubia, Cairo, Giza, Kafr El-Sheikh, Beheira, Assiut and Qena.
The workshops targeted 54 physicians who were trained on the use of different of family planning methods and the insertion of subdermal implants “Implanon NXT.”
Activities are scheduled to continue in September with another set of eight training workshops in Sharqeya, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Daqahleya, Alexandria, Assiut and Sohag, targeting 48 other physicians.
A series of workshops was also kicked off earlier on August 10, to build the capacity of 50 staff members of the ministry’s Family Planning sector from all governorates on the standard operating procedures of the logistic management information system.
The workshosp will also work with them on developing operational plans for all governorates based on the national costed implementation plan of family planning commodities.
It is worth noting that during the trainings, all precautionary measures are taken by using PPE provided with the support of the European Union, and ensuring social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
