As it continues to seek partnerships that will contribute to its COVID-19 response, UNFPA partnered with with the Danish company in Egypt, Aller Aqua, to procure essential Personal Protective Equipment to frontline healthcare workers in Egypt.

With the contribution of Aller Aqua, UNFPA was able to procure 46,000 surgical masks to be delivered to the Primary Healthcare Department at the Ministry of Health and Population, who will, in turn, deliver them to the hospitals most in need.

“We were glad when UNFPA reached out to us, asking for our support to ensure the safety of frontline healthcare workers in Egypt,” Hussein Mansour, CEO of Aller Aqua Egypt and President of the Danish Business Club in Egypt, stated. “As COVID-19 is spreading, the frontline staff go to great lengths to help the population, and we need to protect them. We are glad to be a part of this initiative.”

The partnership is the fruit of a meeting organized through the Danish Royal Embassy in Egypt with the members of the Danish Business Club in Egypt.

“We are glad to see the Danish company in Egypt, Aller Aqua, collaborate with UNFPA Egypt to support the COVID-19 response and healthcare frontline workers through a fruitful coordination by the Embassy and members of the Danish Business Club in Cairo,” Sara Gottfredsen, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Denmark in Cairo, remarked. “This collaboration reflects one of the top priorities of Denmark amid COVID-19 and highlights what public-private partnerships can contribute to society.”
