To raise awareness and spark advocacy for change, the annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign begins on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on 25 November and runs through International Human Rights Day on 10 December, inspiring action to combat such violence in all its forms: child marriage, female genital mutilation, digital violence, intimate partner violence and rape, among others.

UNFPA strives to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls, wherever and whenever it occurs.

This year, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence focuses on the theme #Uprooted: Resilience in crisis, drawing attention to the increased risks of gender-based violence that displaced women and girls face and calling on the international community to prioritize their protection and increase funding for gender-based violence prevention and response programmes.

Below are the different activities and interventions that UNFPA is conducting throughout the 16 Days, contributing to the prevention and protection of women and girls from gender-based violence.
