Egyptian freestyle footballer Yorok broke the world record covering 6.15 KM juggling a football in one hour, as part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, UNFPA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in partnership with Etijah Youth and Development Consultancy Institute, with the support of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation.

Yorok is a UNFPA Champion, who dedicated this record to support ending Violence against Women in Egypt. Breaking this world record sends the message that women can challenge social norms and break the cycle of violence.

The sports event aimed to spread awareness around gender-based violence, using sports as an entry tool to reach young people. 

The farthest distance covered juggling a football in one hour was 5.82 km, and was achieved by John Farnworth (UK) in Morocco in 2019.

German Haddad, UNFPA Assistant Representative, said that this achievement proves the unlimited abilities of young people to take on any challenge and fight any social and developmental issues.

The sports event, which was held at the Pyramids, also comes within the framework of the Sports for Development Initiative and the fruitful and continuous cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and UNFPA.
