Y-PEER concludes TOT workshop on population topics

Because it relies on peer-to-peer education, Y-PEER held a 5-day training of trainers (ToT) workshop, tackling different population issues, such as family planning, reproductive health and how it was impacted by COVID-19 and gender-based violence.

The workshop, held on October 1-5, featured interactive methods of education such as theatre-based techniques and role games. It aimed at empowering young people to become professional trainers and provide them with the needed skills and knowledge to conduct population awareness training and workshops.

The workshop comes as part of the EU Support to Egypt’s National Population Strategy project. One of the project’s main objectives is to educate young people and people in reproductive age and raise their awareness on family planning and the value of smaller family size.

Given the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, all safety measures and protocols were taken during the training.

Y-PEER, UNFPA’s youth leadership network, aims to promote healthy life styles and to empower young people at different levels through peer to peer approach.
