The second Annual Coordination Meeting for the Safe Women’s Clinics was held on December 4, bringing together medical service providers from eight Safe Women’s Clinics established in university hospitals around Egypt.

The meeting saw the launch of the Standards of Practice (SOPs) for medical service providers in Safe Women’s Clinics, where participants discussed its structure and content before its adoption.

Participants also presented their annual reports and discussed challenges and priorities for next year and learned about the Women's Complaints Office services, role of the coordination unit at the National Council for Women and referral pathways.

The meeting was organized by UNFPA and the National Council for Women, as part of activities held within the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, with the support of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Royal Norwegian Embassy.

There are currently eight Safe Women’s Clinics in Egypt offering comprehensive services for women subjected to violence, including medical services, as well as multi-sectoral referral to legal and social services.

They are located in Minya, Beni Suef, Benha, 6th of October, Qasr al-Ainy, Mansoura, Ain Shams and Assiut University Hospitals.
